Well, as luck would have it, the break being forced upon me where I’d intended to continue Chapter 4 has an unexpected beneficial consequence.

The sequence of events, as I’d sketched them out in my initial overview, doesn’t work. Some major plot points become too obvious too soon and some other observations could be detected and rejected if the order is incorrect. The actual subject matter is at the heart of this particular point is somewhat controversial and if presented in the wrong order could result in the reader refusing to consider the point before it’s even made.

On top of this, I’m at the point of gradually revealing more about the world in which these characters live, and the upshot of it all is that Chapter 5, rather than being simply laying the groundwork for Jimmy’s next brush with reality, is now the foundation for developing at least three other major plot points. The only annoying thing is that I need to get it all straight in my head before jumping in feet first, but I’ll have a good grasp on that and be uploading the next installment on Monday.
