So, I’ve come to start Chapter Six and from my original notes, helpfully titled ‘Overview,’ I have only two plot points to cover. One immediately relevant as following on from Chapter Five, the other having nothing at all to do with that and even less to do with the plan for Chapter Seven.
You might remember I mentioned something planned for Chapter Nine a post or two ago? Well we can forget all about that now because the rest of the book has just been reorganized!
Again!
If it looks to you like I’ve never done this before, there’s a good reason for that.
I guess I don’t like doing things the easy way because otherwise that original plan would have been significantly more useful and perhaps even have things in the right order for them to work. But then, if I wanted to do things the easy way, I’d get a regular job instead of trying to achieve things.
I’m now calling the new plan an Outline although that’s a serious stretch because I have an idea (now!) what an Outline should be, and this isn’t it. But, hey, the flow looks a lot better, things that should happen in a logical sequence now do, and by the purest of luck, the thing still looks like it’ll finish up at around seventeen chapters. How amazing is that?
Not at all?
Well, you’re entitled to your opinion. Someone said ‘the perfect is the enemy of the done,’ and if that’s true, what I have is done’s natural ally!
That all having been said, I’m about to go sit in a car and wait for a school dance to end. Luckily I now have the ability to take my book with me, so no reason to just be sitting there listening to music this time!
So if you’ll excuse me, Jimmy’s about to get a rude awakening. Quite literally!
