A Week’s Worth of Gridlock.

Stumbling Around.

Well, this hasn’t been the easiest year to work with so far, especially the past few weeks where there have been school closures, illnesses, bad weather, and school closures due to illnesses during bad weather.

An Unseasonal Creek.
A river is not supposed to run through it.

Bad weather would normally be an excellent time to write, right? I think so, save for the pantry and children home from school and under foot. Last week began with Presidents Day, a holiday with no school, had a half day on Wednesday with an early dismissal, a closure on Thursday because of flooding in the County, and a final closure on Friday due to a high rate of illness.

Our eldest only attended school for one day last week.

Bumbling Around.

Progress in the Pantry.
Progress in the Pantry.

Then there’s the Pantry. I had hoped to be done with it mid-week, but a few hiccups have left it still incomplete on Sunday. I’ve had issues running out of Kreg screws, wood screws, brackets, having supports split and now I’m out of Kreg screws again – a different size, but still.

Sorry the picture is so cluttered, but there was no way I was going to move all those darned tools out just to make it look good.

It’ll be amazing when it’s finished, not simply because I can get all the darned food back where it belongs, and also not because there’ll be a dedicated spot for brewing beer and wine (I have a kit I got for a Christmas present that, like so many other things, is waiting for me to have time) but it’ll mostly be amazing because I won’t have to work in there any more!

So… More Excuses?

So, as far as The Old Man goes I haven’t gotten anything done. This blog is intended to be a personal accountability motivator. I try to keep myself to posting once a week with a goal of writing about the progress I’m making, so it’s incredibly aggravating when I don’t make any.

Up Next…

The Brew Station in the Pantry.

Well, I don’t want to bore you with either a simple ‘ditto’ or a repetition of my last post’s Up Next… but that’s essentially where we are.

If I can get the lower supports for the bottom shelves completed – which shouldn’t even be a day’s work if I can actually get on with it – then there’s only the walls to repair from where I’ve beaten them to death. After that there’s getting all the food shoved back in there – I’m supposed to organize it, but right now I’ll be content with it just no longer being an issue.

Then we’ll see if I can get back to the edit cycle without any other surprises or disasters to contend with.

The forecast for the next four days doesn’t look bad, so let’s hope it can stay that way and we can all be productive. Perhaps the kids might even go to school…

Have a great week everyone.
