What’s Been Going On?
Well, the sun shone this week.
For most of it anyway.
So I’ve been super busy outside moving plants that had been in the wrong places. A bunch of sage, comfrey, hydrangea and privets. Our ground is hard clay, so it was exhausting work.
Last Friday I picked up a dozen light Brahma chicks for our eldest’s 4-H project. They haven’t exactly been a handful, but they have needed attention during their first few days and it wasn’t until Friday just gone that I satisfied myself that they no longer need their bottoms wiped on their behalf.
‘Pasty Butt’ is less pleasant than it sounds. It’s where excrement gathers around the soft down at the back end of the chick, preventing the bird from pooping properly.
I don’t have pictures, mostly because this is supposed to be a blog about my writing adventure, not wiping the back ends of hapless little chicks.
At any rate, I’ve been so busy I didn’t get to spend any time on the NRCS Conservation Plan.
What About The Writing Work?
I’m still in a long-term holding pattern awaiting Alpha Reader feedback. . I’ve managed to steal a couple of hours throughout the week to keep on with the research for ‘Black Box Factory Part One,’ but the subject is still very depressing. Even though I’ve reached the start of the Warsaw uprising, I know how it works out, it’s just the details that I need.
I fully intend on writing up my notes once I’m done, but, as with everything else, real life gets in the way. For the record, Mr. Guttman does a good job of bringing out the flaws in the human character and the result is that the reactions and thinking of the Ghetto inhabitants is wholly relatable. That’s pretty important from my research perspective.
What’s Up For This Next Week Then?
Here’s my goal list for the upcoming week:
- Build a chick-shaw so the chickens can be moved outside and get to foraging
- Get the last of the raised beds weeded and planted
- Plan out how the NRCS program should be implemented
- Spend at least three hours total moving forward with the Warsaw Ghetto research
…but then I always say that a plan is a list of things that aren’t going to happen…
I’ll be sure to take pictures during the construction of the chick-shaw so that I can post about that, but I’d much rather post about getting on with The Old Man or moving forward with the pre-outline work on Black Box Factory.
Anyway, such is life.
Never give up, never surrender!
