The Research.
Tidying up my research is still going slowly and, at time of writing, I’m about halfway through trying to collate my notes.
I can’t help think that I’m doing this in an inefficient way. There’s so much material that it should have been collated as I went, rather than trying to pull it all together afterwards.
A lesson learned for next time.
Characters.
I happened to catch a Hank Green YouTube video while taking a break, and one of the things he mentioned is how important he found it to connect with his characters.
Well, I’ve been doing that lately and thought I’d share it with you on the site.
My first two characters have very brief bios now on the site. You can find out about Simon and Jennifer Weatherstone either by clicking on the links, or navigating the above menu, under ‘Books.’
These two characters are ready to tell their story right now, which is a problem because I’m still working on what that story happens to be.
Incidentally, I’m not sure about the copyright position with regards to these images, I’ve been unable to ascertain who actually has the copyright and I don’t know if using them as inspiration to develop my own characters counts as ‘Fair Use’, so if they disappear it means I’ve been asked to remove them.
Impatience.
I really can’t wait to get started!
I know it’s going to be a while, but it’s going to be an enjoyable process getting to grips with the outlining. I’m actually debating whether I should put together a rough outline once I’ve finished combing through my Jews of Warsaw notes.
Cats.
I have one last thing to tell you about.
Cats seem to rule the internet, so here’s one that has adopted us. He’s a really laid-back, friendly cat I’ve taken to calling ‘Ash.’
He’s going to make a cameo appearance in the story with Simon and Jennifer, so you’ll find out more about him there.
Up Next…
I plan on keeping up progress where I can, but obviously things happen that can derail the best of plans. That having been said, I’m going to set myself the goal of having completed the note comb-through by my next blog post. I won’t be able to break it all down and write about what it all means because I’ll still need to interpret it all – remember how I said “I’m doing this in an inefficient way” – I don’t want to do my research this way again.
Anyway, that’s my only writing goal for this week.
